Emily Tedrake

Last week during the lesson, Emily Tedrake a video commissioner of Polydor Records came into our class to discus her job role, and the responsibilities that she has.

Polydor records is a record label owned by Universal Music Group based in the Uk. Emily Tedrake is in her seventh year working there, now possessing the role of a commissioning editing. Emily studies fine art painting, and originally wanted to be a photographer, however she then did an unpaid internship at Polydor records.
Emily commissions music videos for artists as big as Ellie Goulding and James Blake, she has also done work for Take That and Lana Del Ray. Emily sends out requests to directors for treatments, with a small budget she will usually ask around 10 directors, however she does not think that it is dair to ask a lot of directors for treatments with big budgets. Emily also works closely with Artsits and Repertoire and researches directors.

- A few other points that Emily pointed out was that the artist should be in the video, if you can't get them on the day then you can always do it in post production. This will then help to promote the star image.
- All starts like different things, consider if your audience is a niche market or a wide main stream artist
- Each video is part of a campaign
- It is important that the video synchronises with the image
