Beatport

Beatport is an online music store (Similar to Itunes) but mainly focuses on dance music.
We used beatport to help us to find the similar kinds of songs therefore we could get influenced by their artwork. At the same time Beatport would most likely be one of our song's distributer because it focuses on music djs plays at clubs and festivals.

Ideas And Influences

we like the idea of someone popping gum.

This is influence from 'we cant stop' music viedo, it is just weird but not serious things taking place

The idea of the kaleidoscope

I like the idea of people using sparklers and
messing around with them to create
shapes and images

We could have people standing in a row doing this, or we
could do it in post production

Campaigns Of Similar Artists

I used Beatport to help me to find some songs that are similar to the song we are doing (Down The Road-C2C) therefore we could look at their Artworks/Album Covers.
Here are some artwork of tracks that are similar to the song we are doing:

Puzzle Dust by Tipper:
Falling (Committed To Sparkle Motion) by Discopolis

Kingston Season by C2c, Rita J, Moongai

Get Lucky by Pharrel, Daft Punk
That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire

one of the similarities most of these Artworks has is the fact that they all show the bands/artists in some form and also the fact that the background color is really warm and it doesn't seem too artificial and this relates to the fact that the music isn't too electronic because is it all played by real instruments so therefore the artist would be considered as organic and the poster shows that.

Permission Letter To The Record Label

To Mercury,

We are a group of A Level students working on an A Level project for a qualification in Media Studies. We are writing to request permission to use the following track as part of this project:

"Down The Road"-C2C

With your permission the track would be used as the accompaniment to a short form video that is made purely for assessment purposes and will have no commercial usage. The video will be viewed only by members of the school community and the assessor of the examination board.

The artist and the copyright holder will of course be fully recognised in the pre-production and evaluation material that accompanies the project. We can also include a full copyright notice if required both in the planning material and on the video itself.

Yours sincerely

Evaluation Of Storyboard

Storyboard To Animatics

This is our final storyboard, which contains 44 frames throughout 3 minutes 7 seconds of the whole songs, as none of the member in our group know how to draw therefore we found drawing storyboard quite challenging and time-consuming at the same time.

Initially, we thought that creating the storyboard and animatic would help us conclude our idea as what our final idea would be like but when it comes to actually doing it we realized that it's far more important than that. As we were doing storyboard and animatics, it actually gave us the idea of what would work in our music video and what would not by putting all the scene from the storyboard together. We found that we had to change our idea quite a lot in order to make the music video looks perfect, we had to repeat a lot of scenes due to the repetitiveness of the songs. this then allowed us to aim at our target audience as our target audience is varied from the age of 17-25 years old, which according to the research people between these age prefer to listen to house and dub-step music, therefore by using quick cut, it would enable us to catch or aim to other audience apart from our target audience.

New Influences For Our Music Video

Here is an influence of our music video, when the bass drops the guitar is gonna get smashed in slow motion. we did some research on how this would look and found it would look something like this.

This is a break dancer that we are going to use for our video, his style of dance would be perfect for our song.

Set Designing

Today during our lesson we saw a set designer who helped adviced us on how we should approach the set. So after the talk with the designer we decided on having a green screen that would be used throughout, So this means that we would be able to  add anything to the post production. We decided that we would also experiment with our filming techniques, for example when the singer is performing we could film the singer lying down and then film from above them.
They also suggested that we did not need to use the star cloth as we could do this in post production, which means that we could add anything that we wanted, rather than being restricted to a star cloth.
Not only this but they also suggested that we add some more characters doing different things to make it more interesting, for example we could have someone popping gum, or shooting a gun etc. Therefore from this we established that we need to do more thinking and adding to make it more interesting.
I felt seeing the set designer was hugely successful; it helped to put our video into perspective and establish where we want to go from this.

Cancelled Ideas

In order to find a concept that we liked we had a few 'trial and errors'. This meant that some of our ideas would not work or we thought it could be better. Below are a few examples of our primary ideas that we rejected.
