Example One

Name of the artist/band and track:
Artist: Swedish House Mafia

Track: Don't You Worry Child

Star Image:
The star image of this dj duo would be 3 swedish mafia looking guys, all of them are swedish and every time they perform, all of them wears a black t-ahirt, dark blue jeans and black shoes. They are always in black and this would be the representation of the mafias.

Treatment for music video: the lyrics of the songs are really emotional, the lyrics are like a story line therefore i want it to be the story line of the music video, it starts with the line "there was a time, i looked into my fathers eyes" and we could start the video from that line.

Summaries A biog of Jamal Edwards from The Guardian

Jamal Edwards the founder of SBTV started with his career as a hobby, at the age of 16 he got a camera as a birthday present.

He uploaded a video of him filming foxes in his garden and he realized that he got 1000 videos on youtube and he was surprised therefore he decided to start to video other things.

Jamal edwards was a fan of grime music and he realized that you wouldn't really see any grime music videos on mainstream TV channels therefore artists makes their own videos and upload it on to youtube. Due to his interest to grime music, he decided to film london rappers freesyling on streets, backstage of gigs and back seats of cars. And he uploads the videos on to youtube, but he didn't want to restrict filming to grime scene.

He started to film big name pop artists like Ellie Goulding, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars and even justin bieber.

His attitude appears to be paying off. he has made money from advertising, he has 50000 subscribers and a total of 39 million videos and he got signed to Sony RCA.

Summarise Why piracy is perpetuating pop

Key point of this article would be the fact that before digital downloads got popular in a way people were forced to pay for the music because the could only get the songs/albums they want in a CD shop but since digital download got popular, it made illegal downloads alot more accessible and therefore people realized that they could get the music they want without paying and years after years everyone's used to getting free music therefore to them paying for music is something that they shouldn't or not used to do and due to the fact that everyones downloading music for free this means that the record label or artist would make a lot less sale on records therefore tours are becoming so long so they could make the money back from making the records because records aren't getting cheaper to make and this is why the younger artists now days are forced by the labels to make what the people want rather then what they want to make. Giving people what they want is the only way of surviving for most of the young musicians.

Account of music video

on monday we did a lip syncing exercise with the song get lucky by daft punk, it began from my group and i setting the set up in the studio, we had a sofa and an simple inside structure of a room, a green screen and a cave wall. we did lip syncing to all 3 of them.
we came up with our shot choices by experimenting with different shots in the beginning then we had a group discussion and came up with 3-4 for each scene, we had an tracking shot in the cave, a mid shot with the green screen and a shot of the singer singing. the biggest problem we had was the fact that because we didn't know what song we were doing untl the day therefore we didn't have that much time to remember the lyrics well enough to do it perfectly therefore during the shoot we always forget about the lyrics or we were too slow or too fast comparing to the original vocal therefore while we were editing it didnt look really realistic in the future we could improve by picking a song a few days before the syncing excercise thereofore everyone would have some time to remember the lyrics really well and the rythem to make sure that it is as close as the original, but apart from that everything went really well.
Using the studio made things a lot easier and made the scene looked a lot more realistic rather then setting the scene up somewhere, but because the studio wasn't that big and we had to make 3 set if scenes therefore there werent a lot of space left after we made the 3 sets in the studio and while we were shooting there were a lot of things around so we had to be careful and we have to make sure that we didn't trip over things and break things.
During editing we

Amy Winehouse

Lighting: The photo was taken using a really soft milky lighting therefore to show the nature beauty of her and shows that shes an organic artist.

Colours: warm milky color of the background represented the purity of her and the record label wanted the audience to focus on her self and the font therefore they’ve used something really simple.

Font: font of this poster is in black which is the opposite of the background color once again it is meant to stand out in this poster. The font is a very simple classic font, nothing fancy therefore it shows the organic side of the artist.

Expression: she looks like she is deep in thought with sadness on her face which could possibly relate back to the sudden death of her. The picture sums up the depression and emotions in the songs in this album.

Negus Theory (Synthetic and Organic)

Synthetic basically means an artist of band who doesn't writes their own music.  an example of a synthetic star would be one direction because synthetic basically means that they don't write their music, they might not be able to play an instrument also that they don't write their own lyrics, and one direction is typical example of an synthetic music band because they got famous from X factor which is an extremely commercial tv program and they got discovered from that and the owner of x factor Simon Cowell signed them to his own lable. he signed them not cause of their "talent" for music or their passion about it, the only reason why they were signed was because of their looks and the record labels would easily be able to package them and sell them to the teenage audiences. For a synthetic band their aim isn't to make great music but instead is to sell records, they are money makers of record labels and usually synthetic bands wouldn't last longer than 3-5 years due to its lack of talent for the actual music and their listeners would grow up and stop listening to them therefore every period of time record labels would have to repackage them to sell more records therefore to make more money out of this band. And as soon as the band stops making money for the record label they would easily be dropped by the record label.

Organic means that the artist or band got famous for their music not for their look but instead for their musical talents, organic musicians are recognized by their music, they write their own songs, they write their own lyrics and as well as they are most likely gonna be playing an instrument. an typical example of this would be Adele she write her own songs, she writes her own lyrics and she has an amazing voice, she may not be the prettiest but still she has a lot of  world wide hits. organic artists tend to last a lot longer in the scene because they have the talent to write good music therefore people likes them for their music no matter how their looks might get changed after a few years but their talent won't go away therefore people would still appreciate their music after years and years and therefore this comes back to the point i mentioned how they last longer in the scene as well as with record labels, record labels wouldn't dump an organic artist if their new album isn't doing good labels wouldn't mind giving time to those organic artist because the labels knows that they have talent, they have the ability to make good music therefore they would want to keep the artists with them.
